“I can’t wait to hug him” says the daughter of the Briton who was arrested in Crete for her rape

The daughter of the Brit who is released for her rape in Crete after DNA evidence showed he did not carry out the attack, she says she can’t wait to hug him, according to the British Daily Mail. Tammi Forsythe, who blamed the Greek police for their handling of the case, alleged that she was attacked on a deserted beach in Malia on June 9.

Officers examined security camera footage at the bar where the 33-year-old had drinks with her father, 62-year-old Philip, afterwards he was arrested and charged with the attack. But the results of the genetic material control, which showed that the sperm found on the woman’s clothes did not match that of her father, the publication notes.

This surprising finding – which the 33-year-old was confident about in a previous interview – means that the father will now be free to return to his home country after his release, notes the Daily Mail.

The 33-year-old mother of four said she wanted to return to Britain with her father “as soon as possible” after four weeks of anguish for her family. “The first thing I’m going to do when I see my dad is give him a big hug… This is great news, it’s one of the best days of my life. I spoke to him briefly on the phone but then he had to hang up to pack for release. I have no words to express the joy we both feel that this is finally over and we can go home to ours. Right now I need time to process everything and spend time with my father.”

She revealed to the Daily Mail that she was notified of her father’s discharge by phone, but the Greek Police did not call her to tell her the good news. “When we are ready we will speak in detail about what happened in order to save other British families from experiencing the horrible injustices that we experienced,” added the British woman.
