Hyundai Tucson 2022 is one of the safest crossovers

The compact crossover Hyundai Tucson 2022 was not only more modern in terms of equipment and appearance compared to its predecessor, but also showed the best results in safety tests of the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, having received the maximum mark.

The Korean crossover of the new generation received the highest rating from the organization, namely the Top Safety Pick +, while its predecessor received the Top Safety Pick without the “+”. In particular, the source notes that the new car received an increased score due to the improved shape and design of the headlights.

To qualify for the Top Safety Pick +, cars must score well in all six IIHS impact tests, including side impact tests, roof strength and head restraint tests. They must also be equipped with a frontal collision avoidance system, which must show excellent ratings when transferring momentum from the vehicle to the pedestrian.

The Tucson 2022 is available with two different headlight systems. The LED headlights that come with the Limited trim are rated Good, while the rest of the headlights are considered acceptable. This is an improvement over the 2021 model, which fell short of the plus because it was available with poorly rated halogen headlights, as well as two highly rated variants.

The Tucson is available with two different frontal collision avoidance systems: standard and optional. Both systems receive top marks in damage ratings between vehicles and pedestrians.

The Tucson is one of the few crossovers to receive a Top Safety Pick + rating. The list also includes Ford Bronco Sport, Mazda CX-30, Mazda CX-5, Nissan Rogue, Subaru Forester and Volvo XC40.
