One of the main innovations of Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 single-chip system is support for ray tracing, a technology that has become the hallmark of NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX graphics cards. Commentators on social media were mixed about the news as they speculated about how ray tracing would look on smartphones. Qualcomm has already answered this question by posting a trailer for Justice Mobile with ray tracing enabled.
The video was specially made to demonstrate ray tracing – it is full of various reflective surfaces and objects (a sword blade, puddles, a kettle, wet asphalt, etc.).
It is not yet known which games will receive ray tracing support for the Qualcomm platform. But the devices that will be the first to equip Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 are already approximately known:
- OnePlus 11 series;
- OPPO Find X6 Pro;
- Motorola Moto X40 series;
- Vivo X90 series;
- gaming smartphone Red Magic 8 Pro from Nubia.
Among the manufacturers that are already planning to release their models on the latest processor, but have not revealed the models, are Xiaomi, Sony, HONOR, ASUS and even Meizu.
