THE Prince Harry and the Megan Markle may lose their agreement with Spotify, worth 18 18 million, as they have so far only produced one 35-minute podcast.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex signed the deal in December 2020, which led their fans to expect a steady stream of content from the couple.
But Ian Penman, a media lawyer who specializes in music streaming contracts, told the Express that the podcast may have been less popular than the couple and Spotify originally expected.
In a statement, he said: “It would not be unfair to assume that perhaps their popularity was not as great as they initially felt or Spotify.”
Penman added that the streaming giant probably paid the Duke and Duchess of Sussex a small down payment and retained the right to withdraw from the total of 18 18 million if the first episode was not popular.
