House Of The Dragon: Filming Continues Despite Actors’ Strike – Reactions To The Decision

The filming of the series “House Of The Dragon” about to continue in the UK this summer, despite the ongoing strike by the Screen Actors Guild of America, SAG-AFTRA. As reported by Variety and relayed by the Athens News Agency, the production of the second season of the HBO series is expected to proceed as planned.

The cast of the spin-off series “Game Of Thrones» is mainly made up of British actors working under contracts of the UK performing arts and entertainment industry trade union Equity rather than the SAG-AFTRA.

The members of Equity are not allowed to strike in solidarity with the US union.

Shortly before SAG-AFTRA announced it had decided to join the Hollywood screenwriters’ strike, Equity issued instructions to its actor members. He said that the UK actors’ union would “stand steadfastly in solidarity” with the Hollywood union, but that Equity members are still required to “show up to work” as they are prohibited from calling a strike in support of SAG-AFTRA.

Following the news that production would go ahead as normal, many fans took to social media to criticize the decision to begin filming amid the strike.
