Highest bridge in the world will be inaugurated in China

China is expected to inaugurate the highest bridge in the world in June, the latest engine engineering featured.

Currently, the bridge called Huajiang Grand Canyon, is close to the end of the construction in Guizhou, southwest China.

The structure will measure 625 meters above the river level, which is 295 meters higher than the Millau Viaduct in France, which holds the title of the highest current bridge.

Guizhou, a province where the bridge is being built, is a mountainous region of China, with complex land. The structure crosses the Grand Canyon Huajiang, also called the “terrestrial cleft”.

China has a national effort to improve infrastructure, especially in relatively underdeveloped mountainous areas such as Guizhou, which is 1,288 kilometers west of Shenzhen.

Therefore, the bridge is not just about breaking a record – once in operation, it will be easier than ever for cars and trucks to cross the area.

According to state media, it will reduce the travel time on the two -hour Grand Canyon Huajiang to just one minute.

The structure is a bridge suspended of steel truss with a total length of approximately 2,890 meters.

Construction officially began on January 18, 2022 and it is expected to be completed on June 30, 2025, the local state media of Guizhou said.

In total, these trusses weigh about 22,000 tons, the equivalent of three Torres Eiffel.

“Currently, the bridge’s general progress has reached 95% and it is expected to be open to traffic in the second half of 2025,” said Zhang Shenglin, chief engineer at the Guizhou Highway Group, to the China Daily state newspaper.

“Until then, this super project that crosses the” land slot “will be the first in the world in both directions. It will be another historical project to demonstrate the strength of China’s infrastructure,” added Zhang.

Currently, almost half of the world’s 100 highest bridges are in Guizhou.
