Russian General Yaroslav Moskalik, died in a car explosion in the Russian city of Balashikha on Friday morning (25), officials.
Moskalik, deputy chief of the main board of operations of the Russian Armed Forces General, died in the explosion of a Volkswagen Golf, the Russian Investigative Committee said in a statement.
The explosion was caused by a makeshift explosive device full of shrapnel, he added.
The investigation committee said it had opened a criminal investigation on the case.
Adding that an investigation team, including forensic and police experts, began examining the scene in Balashikha, which is less than 32 km east of Moscow.
Russian state news agency Tass previously reported that a device had exploded a car in the city, citing emergency services.
Tass reported that the device was “home”.
The case reported on Friday (25) occurred two days after a fire in an underground parking lot in the Moscow commercial district after an explosion at the site.
