Hezbollah: Israel will pay for civilian casualties

The Israel will face retaliation after it struck southern Lebanon yesterday, killing 10 civilians, half of them children, its senior official warned today Hezbollah and MP Hassan Fadlallah.

The enemy will pay the price for these crimes“, Fadlallah told Reuters when asked about the reaction of the powerful and Iran-backed armed group to the bloodiest day for civilians in Lebanon since the fighting began along its southern border.

Yesterday, several members of the Lebanese organization were also killed in separate strikes, including Nabatieh, according to the organization and security sources.
Asked about the strike in Nabatieh, an Israeli military spokesman said today that the military was waiting for more information “regarding this event, but we will update when we have more information.”

A source familiar with Hezbollah's reasoning said the attack on Nabatieh signals an Israeli escalation, but it still remains within the unwritten “rules of engagement».
Israel announced yesterday that it responded to a cross-border rocket fire from Lebanon that killed one of its soldiers and injured eight others in the town of Safed, located about 15 kilometers from the Lebanese border.

Hezbollah did not claim responsibility for the attack.

As Fadlallah said, Hezbollah has “legal right to defend its citizens and will not hesitate to do what it takes to protect them,” while insisting that Israel must stop the war in Gaza.

Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati also asked Foreign Minister Abdullah Bou Habib to lodge a new protest with the United Nations Security Council over yesterday's strikes.

The Israeli military announced today that Israeli warplanes hit dozens of Hezbollah targets in the Wadi Saluki region of southern Lebanon and the organization's infrastructure in the Labuneh region, while overnight a military structure of the organization in Taibeh.
