A sandstorm hit the center, south and east of Iraq, on Monday night (14), causing low visibility and hospitalizations.
Cars in the city of Basra rode in the dense fog after the storm, with some parked on the street.
See how the streets were in Iraq:
According to the Ministry of Health of Iraq, bad weather led to hospitalization of more than 3,700 people by asphyxiation and breathing difficulties, occupying emergency rooms in Baghdad and neighboring provinces.
At Basra Hospital, the emergency area was crowded with people wearing facial masks and others breathing by nebulizers.
The intensity of the sand storm caused problems in air traffic in some regions.
Iraq is the fifth most vulnerable country in the world to the climate crisis, according to the United Nations.
Drought and extreme temperatures are drying agricultural lands and making large areas of almost uninhabited Iraq during the summer months.
