Heavy snow and frost in central and eastern US states

A severe wave of severe weather brought snow and frost to much of the US on Sunday, with about 60 million residents in more than 10 states, from Kansas to New Jersey, on alert to follow the instructions of local authorities . Kansas, Kentucky, Arkansas, West Virginia and Virginia have already declared states of emergency. After first hitting the central states, the storm is moving northeast, with the capital Washington bracing for heavy snow and bitter cold on Monday, when the US Congress meets to formally ratify the election of Donald Trump to the presidency. Republican House Speaker Mike Johnson told Fox News that the bad weather won’t stop members of Congress from doing their jobs.
