The National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet) issued two warnings related to rain this Monday (6) in part of the Northeast of the country. In some places, rainfall can reach 100 millimeters, with a risk of flooding, landslides and river overflows.
One of the danger alerts is valid until 10am next Wednesday (8) and mainly affects the coastal strip of Sergipe, Maceió and part of Pernambuco. The capitals Aracaju and Maceió and the metropolitan region of Recife may be affected.
Another alert, of potential danger, is also valid until 10 am on the 8th and is more comprehensive, going from Bahia to the border between ParaÃba and Rio Grande do Norte. In this case, the possibility is of rainfall between 20 and 30 mm/h or up to 50 mm/day, with a low risk of flooding and small landslides.
Among the affected areas are the metropolitan regions of Recife and Salvador.
Also this Monday, the Pernambuco Water and Climate Agency (Apac) issued an alert indicating the possibility of moderate to heavy rain in the metropolitan region of Recife starting today.
The advice for people living in these areas is, if possible, to avoid facing bad weather, observe changes in the slopes, and turn off electrical appliances and the general power supply in case of storms.
If there is flooding, the agency advises people to protect their belongings, especially documents, in plastic bags.
