United States President Donald Trump said at the Oval Hall on Thursday that “Harvard is a shame” when asked why the IRS is planning to revoke the university’s fiscal exemption status.
“Because I think Harvard is a shame. I think what they did was a shame. They are obviously anti-Semites,” Trump told the testimony of former Harvard President Claudine Gay to Congress at an audience focused on campus anti-Semitism.
“Fiscal exemption status is a privilege, it is really a privilege. And it has been abused by many more people than Harvard,” he added.
Although Trump said that lawyers who work on the subject have not yet made a final decision, he warned that educational institutions should be cautious.
