The Islamic group Hamas has not pulled out of peace talks following this weekend’s deadly Israeli attacks on Gaza, one of its top officials said today. The statement by Izzat El-Resik, a member of the Hamas politburo, also accused Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Denyahu of trying to derail efforts by Arab mediators and the US to reach a ceasefire agreement. The escalation of attacks by Netanyahu and his government is aimed at thwarting efforts to end the conflict, Resik said.
