Hamas is asking the US to “pressure” Israel to reach a ceasefire agreement

Khalil Al-Haya, the head of Hamas, today called on the US to put pressure on Israel to reach a ceasefire deal in the Gaza Strip, which would be accompanied by the release of hostages in exchange for Palestinian prisoners. “If the US government and its president (Joe) Biden really want a ceasefire and a prisoner exchange deal, they should drop their blind support for the Zionist occupation and put real pressure on (Benjamin) Netanyahu and his government ” said Al Hayya, who is a member of Hamas’ political office based in Qatar. On Wednesday night the Israeli prime minister claimed he was “trying to find some ground to start negotiations” but Hamas refused and said it had “nothing to discuss”.
