Hamas claims Israeli army executed dozens of Palestinians in Jambaliya

Hamas' health ministry claims dozens of Palestinians have been killed, some of them “executed” in the middle of the road, during the Israeli army's ground operations in the Jabaliya area of the northern Gaza Strip.

“The conqueror committed many horrific massacres resulting in the death of dozens of martyrs in the Jabaliyah camp, the Tal Al Zaatar zone and the city of Jabaliyah. They also executed dozens of civilians in the streets,” said Health Ministry spokesman Ashraf al-Kidreh.

“The extent of the devastation in the Tal Al Zaatar zone and the schools of the Jabaliya camp, which housed tens of thousands of displaced people, is enormous and heartbreaking. Dozens of witnesses (including dead) were identified. The conqueror executed many of them in front of their families,” the Hamas statement said.

The Israeli military, when asked about the matter by AFP, did not specifically respond to these accusations. But he assured that “strikes against military targets are in accordance with the rules of international law” and are carried out after assessing that “incidental damage to civilians and civilian infrastructure will not be excessive, compared to the military advantage expected as a result of the attack ».

AFP television footage showed a body under debris in the streets of Jambaliya and massive destruction in various parts of the city. Videos broadcast by local media, which AFP was unable to verify, showed decomposing corpses on the streets of Jambaliya.

In Beit Lahia, in the north, the civil protection service said it found “dozens of decomposing bodies” today. Most of the victims were “executed in the street and then eaten by dogs,” he added.

The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights on Wednesday asked Israel to launch an investigation into “the possible commission of a war crime” by the Israeli army after receiving “disturbing information” about the deaths of eleven unarmed Palestinians in Gaza City. Israel responded that this charge is “baseless and untrue”.
