Haddad should announce new names of secretaries for the Ministry of Finance starting this Monday

The future Minister of Finance, Fernando Haddad, should start the week with announcements by secretaries of the portfolio. The expectation, according to him CNN with interlocutors of the former mayor of São Paulo, is that the economist Guilherme Mello be confirmed to occupy the Secretariat of Economic Policy.

Mello is a professor at Unicamp, where he coordinates the graduate program in economic development. He was one of the formulators of the proposals of President-elect Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) for the economy during the elections. He is part of the technical group in the transition area.

Last Wednesday (14), Haddad had signaled to journalists that he had the names of more assistants in mind. But he gave no details. According to him, everything would depend on a conversation he would have with the president-elect. “It is not closed. But I’ve already targeted the guy,” he said.

In addition to the Economic Policy secretary, Haddad should also announce who will head the Federal Revenue Service and the National Treasury.

For the Treasury, there is pressure to choose the current Secretary of Finance of São Paulo, Felipe Salto. However, sources in the new government claim that the name is being resisted within the PT. On the other hand, the elected vice-president, Geraldo Alckmin (PSB), would be working for his nomination, claiming that Salto could help to calm the financial market.
