A Municipal Civil Guard shot two other agents during an argument, this Wednesday morning (7), at a corporation base, in Cotia (SP). After shooting at the guards, the shooter took his own life. According to the Public Security Secretariat (SSP), one of the civil guards who was shot did not survive his injuries and the other remains hospitalized.
Cotia City Hall confirms that one of those involved had argued with his superior (the deputy commander of the corporation) and the third guard had tried to calm the situation.
In a note, the city hall also informed that the disagreement was motivated by the failure to present a certificate necessary to maintain the possession of a weapon (as required by the Federal Police). The shots were fired with a personal weapon, which was reportedly kept in his private car. After the shots, the author attempted to kill himself.
The mayor of Cotia, Rogério Franco (PSD), lamented what happened on social media and stated that the administration is investigating the facts.
“Around 10:30 in the morning we had a very serious incident at the Municipal Civil Guard (GCM) corporation. […] All our solidarity with friends and family in this moment of so much sadness.”
The Civil Police said they are investigating the case and reported that the location is being preserved for forensic examination. The incident is being presented at the Cotia Police Station.
