Group that used divers to send 3 tons of drugs to Europe is targeted by the Federal Police

The Federal Police launched, this Thursday (5), an operation against a criminal organization specialized in international drug trafficking, especially cocaine, with branches in Brazil and Europe.

PF delegate Mateus Marins Corrêa de Sá explains how the uncovered scheme works: “Diving was mainly used, in which the organization co-opted divers specialized in this activity, who went to the ships’ compartments, contaminated the ships, then traveled to Europe, and there they removed and delivered the material to the buyer.”

According to the PF, this group sent 3 tons of cocaine with this scheme to Europe .

About 120 federal police officers and teams from the Spanish Civil Guard are on the streets to enforce 9 preventive arrest warrants and 38 search and seizure warrants in Paraná, Santa Catarina, São Paulo, Pernambuco and Spain.

Patrimonial measures were also decreed to seize movable and immovable assets totaling a value of approximately R$ 7.2 million as well as orders to block assets and amounts held in bank accounts and financial applications of up to R$ 20 million by investigated.

The investigations, with the support of the Federal Revenue Service, Europol, the Spanish Civil Guard and the Croatian National Police, revealed that the group set up a logistical structure to operate drug trafficking activities, which included entry and transportation within Brazilian territory, preparation and sending of cocaine shipments abroad using mainly maritime transport.

All material seized in this Thursday’s action will undergo expert analysis and will be used to contribute to the investigation.
