In this context, government officials highlight the extremely important dimension of the meeting between the Prime Minister and the President of Egypt, Al Sisi, on the sidelines of the Summit, with the two leaders characterizing as an absolute priority the electrical interconnection of the two countries.

At the same time, Mr. Mitsotakis and Mr. Al Sisi agreed to hold a teleconference in the coming days of all those involved with the participation of the two leaders, a fact indicative of the speed that the implementation of the whole plan is raising.

Greece’s agreement with Egypt on the electricity interconnection of the two countries that will transfer “green” electricity from Egypt to Greece and from there to Europe was the main topic of the Prime Minister’s intervention at the thematic table on the energy transition, digital and transport. “Through the Greece-Egypt electricity interconnection, the European Union can gradually ensure a steady supply of large quantities of green electricity and Greece can be the bridge between Europe and Africa,” he said.

The prime minister’s diplomatic demarche, which began in Serbia on Wednesday and added new episodes in Brussels, continues today in Munich.
