The announcement of the successful removal of the Greek Consul General in Mariupol, Manolis Androulakis, was made by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nikos Dendias, via Twitter.
According to the head of Greek diplomacy, Mr. Androulakis has crossed the border of Ukraine with Moldova and is now safe.
“Operation #Nostos 6, with the evacuation of 11 members of the Greek community in Ukraine, who are accompanied by the Consul General in Mariupol, Manolis Androulakis, was successfully completed, as they crossed the Ukrainian-Moldovan border.
“I would like to express my gratitude again to the Consul General in Mariupol and to those who contributed to the successful outcome of this particularly difficult operation,” said Mr. Dendias.
