For the second time in less than a week, a problem with a GPS system at Guarulhos airport caused flight cancellations and delays. The failure, which occurred last Thursday (29), happened again this Tuesday (3).
According to the concessionaire GRU Airport, there was an intermittency in the navigation system (GNSS), which is specific to aircraft. The company says that, by early afternoon, the systems had already returned to normal.
Due to the problem, two Azul airline flights had to be cancelled.
In a statement, the company reported that the impacted customers are already “receiving the necessary assistance” and will be re-accommodated on other company flights.
Latam said it is waiting for operations to return to normal, which it said were caused by technical issues at the airport beyond the company’s control.
“At this time, some Latam flights are delayed in the area, but it was not necessary to make any cancellations,” the company said. Gol did not say whether there were any problems with the operation.
The National Telecommunications Agency (Anatel) reports that this Tuesday it received a new report of interference from members of the São Paulo Regional Air Control Administration.
“In the morning, Anatel São Paulo management had detected interfering signals with Anatel monitoring stations located at Guarulhos International Airport, which prompted immediate field work with inspection teams to attempt to locate the source of the interference. The inspection team is currently working and searching to locate the source of the interference and thus solve the problem.”
