The governor of Piauí, Wellington Dias, announced this Tuesday (22) the extension for another three months of the ICMS freeze on fuel.
In an interview in Brasília, after a meeting of governors, vices and secretaries, Dias, who is also coordinator of the Forum of Governors, spoke of the extension of the freeze, which would end on the 31st.
“We are also authorizing Comsefaz [Comitê Nacional de Secretário da Fazenda] the extension of the measure that we have adopted since 11/01/2021 that made what is called freezing the average base price for ICMS purposes and in this period, the council of finance secretaries must deal specifically with gasoline”, he said.
On diesel, Dias said that next Thursday (24) the Secretaries of Finance will deliberate on the single rate for diesel.
“On the one hand, this Thursday we are going to approve the regulation that is already an imposition of the law on diesel. We have extended the rules regarding gasoline for another 90 days and during this period the Council of Farm Secretaries must find the appropriate text so that we can comply with this rule.”
According to him, the measure represents “an impact on state accounts, in the case of diesel around 30% of state and municipal revenue.” “We have an impact that is estimated at approximately R$14 billion.”
