The government leader in the Chamber of Deputies, Ricardo Barros (PP-AL), informed the CNN that the Petrobras CPI has the initial support of 65 federal deputies. At least 171 signatures are required for the installation of the commission of inquiry.
The allied base of President Jair Bolsonaro finalized the application for the opening of what he called the “CPI on the Price of Fuels” during the night.
The document, to which the analyst Caio Junqueira had access, says that “the country watches in amazement the unprecedented escalation of fuel prices and related products, which has a direct impact on inflation, and, naturally, generates damage to the population”.
The request also states that “at the same time, there is a significant increase in the results of the main company operating in this market, namely Petróleo Brasileiro SA, including the increase in profit margins and the distribution of proceeds to investors”.
To be created, a CPI needs an operating term and a specific fact. This Tuesday (21), the president of the Federal Senate, Rodrigo Pacheco (PSD-MG), said he was not in favor of the commission of inquiry and defended that measures be adopted to try to reduce the impact of the increase in prices on the consumer market.
