Senator Carlos Portinho (PL-RJ) was chosen as the new government leader in the Senate. The information was confirmed by the Secretary of Government. The position had been vacant since December last year when Senator Fernando Bezerra Coelho (MDB-PE) left the position.
He competed with colleagues in the Senate for the nomination for the post of minister of the Federal Court of Accounts (TCU), but had a poor vote, making it impossible for him to remain in the leadership. At the time, Antonio Anastasia, who was a senator for the (PSDB-MG), took the seat.
The information was confirmed on social media by Minister Célio Faria Júnior, from the Secretariat of Government.
We are pleased to receive the nomination signed by the President @jairbolsonaro of the senator @carlosfportinho for Government Leader in the Federal Senate.
