Google Photos has new free tools

Google has released an update to the Android version of its Google Photos service that adds new tools to the photo editor called Sharpen and Denoise.

After pressing the Edit button on the image, you need to select the Adjust section, scroll to the very end of the list, where the Sharpe and Denoise tools will appear. They sit right between the existing Pop and Vignette instruments.

The new tools are marked with a yellow dot, as was the HDR effect that has been added for Pixel phone users and Google One subscribers. Both functions are scaled from 0 to 100. Sharpen is used to create a sharper image, while Denoise is used to remove background grain.

The Sharpen and Denoise tools in Google Photos for Android are in the process of being distributed and are being updated from the server side. Google has confirmed that a Google One subscription is not required to use them.
