This Tuesday’s Google Doodle (21) pays homage to the Japanese-Brazilian artist Tomie Ohtake , which would be 110 years old today. She died in February 2015, aged 101.
Tomie is known for her elaborate abstract paintings using primary colors. Her works are exhibited in several Brazilian cities such as São Paulo, Santos (SP), Ipatinga (MG) and Registro (SP). (See below).
Tomie was born in Tokyo, Japan, where he spent his adolescence. In 1936, at the age of 23, he moved to São Paulo, where he married and lived for the rest of his life.
In the 1950s, she began painting and perfecting abstractionism. From the 1970s onwards, she began working with screen printing, lithographing and metal engraving.
Over the years, he received several awards such as: Panorama of Brazilian Painting from the São Paulo Museum of Modern Art, Order of Rio Branco and Order of Cultural Merit.
