Investment bank Goldman Sachs will offer its clients access to new cryptocurrency investment products as part of its wealth management team.
In an interview with CNBC, Goldman Sachs’ new head of digital assets for wealth management, Mary Catherine Rich, said the bank is actively working to offer its clients access to new cryptocurrency investment products in the near term.
According to her, the new services will become available to customers during the first half of 2022. The bank develops crypto-currency investment proposals as part of the work of the private wealth management group.
“We are working closely with teams across the firm to explore ways to provide thoughtful and appropriate access to the ecosystem for clients, and this is something we look forward to in the near future,” Rich said.
She added that Goldman Sachs is looking closely at offering clients various types of investments and a “full range” of instruments for investing in cryptocurrencies, from “direct purchase of crypto assets, to derivatives and derivative financial instruments based on them.”
The other day, a banker with 20 years of experience at Credit Suisse and Morgan Stanley, Caitlin Long, said that Goldman Sachs’ indecision in the cryptocurrency market allowed JP Morgan to significantly outperform a competitor.
At the same time, a survey of clients of the investment bank Goldman Sachs, conducted in March of this year, showed that 60% of respondents intend to increase the share of virtual currencies in their portfolios within a year or two. Moreover, a third of them emphasized that they would “significantly” increase investments in cryptocurrencies.
