Paul Mescal revealed, during an interview at the British Academy Film Awards (Bafta), that the recordings of “Gladiator 2” have already been completed. The film should hit theaters later this year.
Asked about where the production was at, the protagonist replied: “Finished. Ridley [Scott, diretor] He’s editing and everything.”
The actor also spoke about what it was like working with the filmmaker, responsible for titles such as “Alien, the Eighth Passenger” (1979), “Gladiator” (2000) and “Prometheus” (2012), and said he is looking forward to the premiere of the film
“Unbelievable. It was an absolute honor. Ridley is king, especially in this format, on the scale of this film. So fingers crossed, right… I'm totally excited and proud of the work we've done together. Now it’s time to wait, hold your breath and wait,” he said.
In the “Actors on Actors” section of “Variey”, which aired in December 2023, Mescal had already spoken about the experience of starring in “Gladiator 2”.
“It’s a big step from everything I’ve done before. It is very fun. I’m exercising completely different skills,” she said.
Despite the excitement, the actor also spoke about the fear of fame that the title could bring.
“I don’t know what the difference will be. Maybe this is naive? Will more people stop me on the street? I would be deeply depressed if that were the case and I hope it is not true,” he stated.

The plot will have a time jump compared to the first film. Lucius, son of Commodous and Lucilla, who was inspired by the Gladiator, is now Emperor.
