The new film in the franchise “Ghostbusters” arrives in Brazilian cinemas this Thursday (11). “Ghostbusters: Ice Apocalypse” brings together the new generation of ghostbusters with the cast of the first film, released in 1984.
In the plot, the Spenglers face ghosts that terrorize the city under pressure from authorities who want to put an end to the team once and for all. But when the discovery of an ancient artifact releases Garraka, a powerful ghost who wants to build an army and freeze New York, the group joins forces with the original Ghostbusters and fights side by side to prevent a new Ice Age.
The production follows the film “Mais Além”, from 2021, set three decades after the events of “Ghostbusters 2” , from 1989, and marks the first title in the franchise to be released without the presence of Ivan Reitman, director and producer of the first two films. Reitman died in 2022, aged 75.
The director's legacy, however, continues in the family: Jason Reitman, Ivan's son, directed the last film in the franchise released in 2021, “Ghostbusters: Beyond”, and continues as producer on the new feature, which is directed by Gil Kenan .
“Ghostbusters: Ice Apocalypse” is starred by Finn Wolfhard (“Stranger Things”) and Paul Rudd (“Ant-Man”) and features veterans Paul Rud (“Encounters and Mismatches”) and Ernie Hudson (“The crow”).
