Germany: The Greens formally approve their participation in the government

The Greens today, Monday, formally approved their Program Agreement with the Social Democratic Party (SPD) and the Liberals (FDP) and thus paved the way for the formation of the new coalition government in Germany.

At a rate 86% on the whole 61.174 out of 124,000 members, the Greens’ base approved both the government program as well as faces proposed by the leadership for the staffing of the ministries that correspond to it, according to the APE BPE.

In the new federal government, the Greens take over Ministry of Economy and Climate Policy with their co-chair Robert Hubeck, who will also be Vice Chancellor, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs with the other co-chair Analena Berbock, the Ministry of Environmental Protection with the Steffi Lemke, the Ministry of Family with the ‘Anne Spiegel and Ministry of Agricultural Economy with the former party leader, Cem Ezdemir, who will also become the first federal minister of Turkish origin.

It is pointed out that the day after Wednesday, the Social Democrat (SPD) is expected to be elected Chancellor by the Federal Parliament. Olaf Solts and later in the day the members of the government receive the mandate to take up their duties from the Federal President Frank – Walter Steinmeier.
