Gena Rowlands died last Wednesday (14) at the age of 94. The actress became known for starring in the film “The Notebook”, released in 2004. For the last five years, she has lived with Alzheimer’s, the same disease as her character in the film.
On social media, celebrities from all over the world mourned Gena’s departure. Among Brazilians, Selton Mello and Leticia Sabatella recognized the importance of the actress.
“Eternal muse, Gena Rowlands. Thank you for everything,” wrote the actor and director. “Always an inspiration. Thank you, Gena Rowlands,” Sabatella also thanked.
Viola Davis was another one that paid tribute to the artist. “We have lost one of the greats. The iconic Gena Rowlands. Your presence on screen, your depth, complexity, vulnerability and absolute bravery was etched in every ‘human being’ you portrayed. You did well. You came. You changed… rest well,” he wrote.
Already Marisa Tomei an Italian actress, shared some moments with Gena and lamented: “She was a giant. The best of the best,” she assured.
Gwendoline Hamon a French actress, also paid tribute. “What an inspiring actress and what a beauty… Leaving at 94 is still a privilege when you have had such an extraordinary life and experienced such extraordinary love,” she posted, stating that Gena was one of the inspirations for her to pursue the profession.
Katie Holmes shared some photos of Gena as a young girl and wrote: “Thank you Gena Rowlands for your beautiful and inspiring work that continues to give meaning to us all. Rest in peace.”
