The Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of the countries that make up the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) grew 0.3% in the second quarter of 2022 compared to the previous three months, according to an initial estimate released by the Paris-based entity on Monday. thursday (29).
The result repeats the poor performance of the first quarter, when OECD GDP also increased by 0.3%.
In the G7 alone, GDP expanded by 0.2% in the quarterly comparison between April and June. In the first quarter, the economy of the world’s seven largest economies had stagnated.
In the second quarter, both the US and the UK suffered an economic contraction of 0.1%, while in Germany, there was a slight increase of 0.1%. In Japan and France, GDP grew by 0.5%.
In Italy and Canada, the respective gains were 1% and 1.1%, according to OECD details.
In a statement, the OECD highlights that Italy and Japan surpassed their pre-pandemic levels of covid-19 in the second quarter. In Germany, in turn, GDP equaled the pre-pandemic level.
“This means that, as of the second quarter, all G7 countries are recording GDP levels at or above pre-pandemic levels,” the OECD said.
