Prices of gasoline, ethanol and S-10 diesel in Brazil fell, on average, by more than 5% in August, mainly impacted by price reductions at Petrobras refineries amid a drop in oil abroad, according to a survey released today. on Friday (19) by the ANP regulator.
The agency hadn’t released the weekly price survey at gas stations for two weeks due to an attempted cyberattack on its systems on August 4th.
In the case of regular gasoline, the accumulated drop in the first three weeks of August was 5.92%, from R$5.74 a liter in the last week of July to 5.40.
The S-10 diesel was, in the accumulated, 5.06% more affordable in relation to the average price recorded at the end of July, having dropped from R$ 7.51 per liter to R$ 7.13 per liter.
Hydrous ethanol, in turn, followed the reduction in gasoline, falling 5.46% in the first three weeks of August.
These reductions reflect the refinery price adjustments made by Petrobras, of 3.89% and 4.85% for gasoline, on July 29 and August 16, respectively; and 3.56% and 4% for S-10 diesel, on August 5 and 12, respectively.
In addition, throughout July, prices were pressured at the pumps by tax cuts, especially for gasoline and ethanol.
