US President Joe Biden made a gaffe this Friday (16).
During a participation in The National Safer Communities Summit (National Summit of Safer Communities), the American president ended his speech by saying “God Save the Queen”, which, in free translation, means “God, save the Queen”.
The moment went viral on social media and confused those who followed the speech at the University of Hartford in Connecticut.
The phrase “God Save The Queen” is popular among the British and featured in the UK anthem during the 60 years of Elizabeth II’s reign.
As the title and excerpts of the song are adapted according to the current monarch’s gender, the British returned to sing “God Save the King”, that is, “God, save the King”.
