The actress Gabriela Medeiros 23, who, like her character Buba, “Reborn” also a trans woman, reflected on her own gender transition process.
In a statement to Conversa com Bial, on TV Globo, last Wednesday (4), the artist said that, despite the support, reality is not easy.
“It’s a very internal thing. It’s not easy, you know? I feel like it’s become a bit commonplace. Is being a trans woman a trend? Is it content that will only give you views? Will it give you a return? What does it mean to be a woman? Is it a product? Is it putting on heels? Having hair up to this point?” [longo]?”, it started.
The actress then declared her vision of what it means to be a woman. “I think it’s the essence. It’s something that comes from within. It’s so strong that when I looked in the mirror, I said, ‘no.’ […] It’s something that almost explodes,” he continued.
Gabriela also said that she went against her own will: “It was really difficult, because I tried to fight against it a lot.”
“I started the transition, then I detransitioned. I was very scared. And then I gained strength, I started looking for help and I said: ‘I’m going to try to be the way they ask me to be. I don’t want to give up the love of my family. I don’t want to give up being loved.’”.
“But then I got into the place of ‘I’m not going to abandon myself.’ And then, for me, that was the greatest act of love I’ve ever done for myself,” he concluded.
