“George A. Papandreou, the longest-serving president of the Socialist International, as he has led the Organization since 2006, will not run again for the position of president of the Socialist International, respecting the provisions of the Statute of the Organization that he proposed and decided at the Conference held in South Africa in 2012 and provide for a specific number of terms and in particular, two terms”.
“He communicated this decision to the last Council of the Organization held in Geneva at the beginning of July and opened the process for submitting nominations for the positions of President and Secretary General” adds the announcement and concludes:
