One of the largest cryptocurrency trading platforms FTX will launch support for Visa debit cards in 40 countries.
Cryptocurrency exchange FTX announced today that it is expanding its Visa debit card offering. The company does not yet name the exact list of countries, but it is known that the majority is located in Latin America. In the future, the company hopes to distribute these cards worldwide through a long-term partnership with Visa.
Once FTX has sorted out the Latin American region, it will start expanding its offering in Europe and Asia. The launch in Europe is planned for the end of 2022, and in Asia for the beginning of 2023.
The FTX debit card is a payment card like traditional banks. It allows customers to spend their money in more than 80 million outlets around the world that accept Visa cards. At the same time, FTX does not charge users any administration or processing fees when using the card, says Cuy Sheffield, head of Visa’s cryptocurrency division:
“We are confident that digital currencies will have a lasting impact on the future of financial services and how money moves around the world. Therefore, cooperation with FTX and other leading crypto exchanges seems to be effective, making the use of cryptocurrencies more flexible and simple.”
Earlier, the Spanish licensed trading platform EurocoinPay, together with the international payment service Mastercard, announced the release of cryptocurrency debit cards.
