In an interview with the French newspaper Le Figaro on Sunday night, the French president Emmanuel Macron said that France and Great Britain are proposing a one -month truce in Ukraine to stop all air and sea conflicts and the attacks on energy infrastructure.
This occurred after the crisis conversations held in London, in which European leaders joined in support of Kyiv, promising to spend more on security and form a coalition to defend any truce in Ukraine.
On Friday, US President Donald Trump criticized Ukrainian Volodymyr Zelensky at a live press conference at the White House. Trump’s dispute with Zelensky raised new questions about US’s commitment to Ukraine and the organization of the North Atlantic Treaty (NATO).
Market reaction
The euro stands firm after these headlines, taking 0.44% up to the EUR/USD in the day, about 1,0420, at the time of writing.
