French police stop Brazilian model from body paint photoshoot

The Brazilian model Raven Hanniely 23, who starred on the cover of the magazine Playboy Danish woman in June announced that she had been fined by French police after taking part in a body painting session on the steps of the Basilica of the Sacred Heart in Paris — considered one of the most important sacred places in the French capital.

At the time, the influencer had her body painted with the intertwined Olympic rings, attracting the attention of many people passing by. However, before the photos, taken by photographer Pablo Araújo, could even be finished, the police interrupted the photo shoot.

In a statement sent to the press, Ravena said that her intention was to celebrate the Olympic spirit through the art, made by Morgane Depond, in a creative way. “I wanted to create something that symbolized the unity and peace that the Olympic Games represent.”

Even in the face of the situation, the Brazilian also assured that it is important to find ways to express oneself artistically, even if this seems controversial to some people. “Art should provoke, question and inspire,” she stated.

For Ravena, there is a certain hypocrisy in the attitude towards art. “The opening of the Olympic Games can have a painting of the Last Supper with half-naked people, but I can’t do an open-air painting? That’s hypocrisy,” he concluded.
