Emanuel Macron and Marin Lepen crossed swords last night in their election telematchin view of the second round of the presidential elections in France that will be held on Sunday. The centrist liberal president was judged to be more convincing, but also more arrogant, than his far-right opponent.
The Elabe’s institute’s “flash” poll for BFMTV on a sample of 650 viewers aged 18 and over showed that 59% thought Mr Macron was more convincing than Ms Lepen.
In 2017, a similar survey had emerged as the winner of the televised match between the two rivals, also Mr. Macronmuch cleaner (63%).
Polls ahead of the April 24 election suggest that outgoing president secures re-election with around 55.5% of the voteas broadcast by Reuters and the Athens News Agency.
In 2017, Mr. Macron had prevailed over Mrs. Lepen with 66.1%.
