The Military Police of Rio de Janeiro expelled from the corporation this Tuesday (08) retired sergeant Ronnie Lessa, accused of the death of councilor Marielle Franco and driver Anderson Gomes, which occurred in 2018. He was arrested in March 2019. salary of BRL 8,000 per month until October 2020, when the Justice Department of Rio de Janeiro ordered the blocking of the salary.

In investigations, the Rio Public Prosecutor’s Office found that Lessa had assets incompatible with the income of a PM sergeant and lived a life of luxury, with real estate and speedboats.

In the decision to exclude him from its staff, obtained by the CNN , Lessa’s conduct is defined as “execrable”. He was expelled from the PM as part of a disciplinary process opened two years and seven months after his arrest for involvement in the death of Marielle – when the Justice convicted him of hiding weapons involved in the double homicide of 2019. The process for involvement in the crime was suspended until the final decision.

In a standard text, used by the PM in cases of expulsion from its staff, the Council that expelled him says that “the aforementioned conduct characterizes disrespect for military police service and comrades in uniform, irreparably staining the image of the Corporation and ethics”.
