Two farms in Rio Grande do Sul that belonged to former president João Goulart are being auctioned for more than R$ 250 million.

The two properties add together 4851 hectares, divided between the municipalities of Itacurubi and Itaqui.

The auction is being held virtually, through the “Akimoto Leilões” website and should end on August 11, at 11 am.

The farm in Itaqui, called “Fazenda Cinamomo”, has 2,727 hectares and is valued at R$ 173,900,787.

In a video published in the adadministrator Rui Noé Goulart, grandson of the former president deposed by the military dictatorship and killed 47 years ago, said that the farm is “a rare area, because it is 90% arable. [É] a special area for soybeans, but today it is being exploited by extensive livestock, with a capacity of 2,500 head of cattle”.

According to Jango’s grandson, the farm also belonged to former president Getúlio Vargas.

The description of the farm on the auction website highlights the fact that the property has a scale to weigh up to 3 tons of cattle, a shipper to facilitate the transport of cattle and dams distributed throughout the land.

“If you need air access, don’t worry! There is an airport just 100 km from four important cities in the region, the main one being São Borja, where any aircraft can land easily”, writes the advertisement.

The farm in Itacurubi, called “Fazenda Presidente João Goulart”, has 2,124 hectares and is valued at R$ 80,716,195.20.

According to the advertisement description, “the area is made up of 55% of land destined for agriculture and 45% for livestock. The farm has no headquarters, but it has two common houses and two small sheds”.

“An important highlight of the Presidente João Goulart Farm is the presence of dams in all slope wintering areas, which guarantees an abundant supply of water. In addition, in the area destined for livestock, it plants about 40 blocks or more of rice, where it is possible to use water from the Icamaquã River for irrigation and also the Itacurubi River, providing even more water resources”, completes the announcement.
