Former BOPE sniper, Rio PM colonel is shot in robbery

Former sniper of the Rio de Janeiro Military Police, Colonel João Jacques Busnello was hit by two shots during a robbery this Monday (4). According to the PM, he was on Avenida 24 de Maio, in Riachuelo, in the north of Rio de Janeiro, when criminals approached him and took the soldier's BMW motorcycle.

According to the corporation, the colonel was taken to Pasteur Hospital, in Méier, also in the north zone, and was said to be in stable condition. A CNN awaits the unit's medical report to update the victim's health status.

The PM reported that, after the crime, policing in the region was intensified. A sweep was carried out to try to locate the criminals. The motorcycle was recovered in the Rato Molhado community, in Sampaio, also in the north zone.

The colonel, who was currently assigned to the corporation's General Personnel Directorate, has served in several PM battalions, including the Special Stadium Policing Group (GEPE) and the Special Operations Battalion (BOPE), where he was an elite sniper.
