Football returns in England on Tuesday after postponement due to Queen’s death

English Football League (EFL) games will resume on Tuesday (13) with tributes paid to Queen Elizabeth II, who died last Thursday (8), after matches across the country were postponed at the end of week.

“A minute of silence will be held before matches, with black armbands to be worn by participants, flags at half-mast and the National Anthem to be played in stadiums,” the EFL said in a statement Monday.

“With a national policing plan now in place, the League and Clubs will continue to work with the forces regarding any challenges that may arise in relation to policing specific games.”

Consideration of individual circumstances will be made on a case-by-case basis in accordance with standard Safety Advisory Group (SAG) protocols.” The EFL comprises the Championship, League One and League Two.

The Premier League has yet to confirm when games will resume.
