At least two people, including a child, died in Oklahoma, United States, after his vehicle was stuck in the waters of a flood, police said on Sunday, while the severe climate and floods reach southern and midwestern parts during the Easter holiday weekend.
“This was a historic climate event that impacted roads and caused dozens of incidents with high waters,” said Moore city, about 17 kilometers south of Oklahoma City in a statement.
“One of the (vehicles) left the track and was dragged under the bridge. At the time of the incident, all occupants, except two, were rescued. It is with great sadness that we reported that two individuals, one adult woman and a 12 -year -old boy were found dead later,” they said.
Moore police asked people to stay home and said on Saturday night that they responded to more than a dozen calls of residents whose vehicles were stuck in the water.
Flood alerts, which suggest that a flood is occurring or is imminent, were in force in Oklahoma.
The National Meteorology Service said on Sunday that severe storms are expected from east Texas to the southeast of Iowa and Illinois, while a strong tornado and potential for harmful winds will exist from the Arkansas Center to the center of Missouri.
A tornado alert was issued to parts of Arkansas, Kansas, Louisiana, Missouri and Oklahoma, added the National Meteorology Service.
Earlier this month, a deadly spring storm caused torrential tornadoes and storms in a US area that extended from Texas to Ohio, killing more than a dozen people in South and Midwest US states.
