First video posted on YouTube turns 20; watch

THE First video youtube turns 20 This Thursday (24), marking the two decades of the platform.

The clip that inaugurated the social network was published by JAWED KARIM one of the co -founders of Youtube, on April 24, 2005, with the title “Me at the Zoo” (“I in the Zoo” in Portuguese). Just 19 seconds long, the video shows a jawed in front of the elephants at the San Diego zoo in the United States.

“Okay, so we’re here in front of the elephants. The cool thing about these guys is that they have very, very, very long trumples. And basically that’s what I have to say,” he says. Watch the video below.

The first comment of the video, fixed by Jawed, is from San Diego Zoo, made five years ago, which celebrates: “We are very honored that the first Youtube video has been filmed here!”

With over 300 million views, this is the only video posted by JAWED, which even without recent activity has over 5.34 million subscribers to your account. It is curious to note that the content responsible for inaugurating Youtube has the format that would make the platform as popular as social network: the vlog – A video in which the user appears counting something in the first person, as if talking to the viewer.

The beginning of Youtube

YouTube was created in 2005 by Steve Chen, Chad Hurley and Jawed Karim, three former Paypal payment company employees who decided to create a platform so that people could share their home videos with others.

The name together “You” (you, in Portuguese) and “tube” (or tube, a slang used for televisions at the time).

A little over a year after the site’s launch for the public, the platform’s success was so much that this brought numerous technology and copyright problems of the content published on the site to its creators.

In November 2006, YouTube was sold to Google for about $ 1.65 billion in stock.
