Firefighters are still working, this Tuesday (12), to contain small outbreaks of fire in a building in the region of Rua 25 de Março, in downtown São Paulo.
On Monday (11), the authorities managed to control the fire, which reached four buildings.
However, this Tuesday (12), in the building where the flames started more than 35 hours ago, on Rua Barão de Duprat, in the Sé district, the authorities are still fighting small outbreaks inside the place.
The other buildings affected have already been released by firefighters for investigation by the police.
According to Captain André Elias, spokesman for the São Paulo Fire Department, 20 vehicles and 55 firefighters are on site for work.
“We’re going from floor to floor, internally, making sure there’s no focus left behind, because that could lead to reignition. The fire can come back in a full phase,” she told the CNN
Despite admitting that there is a risk of the building collapsing, the spokesman said that internal and drone surveys were carried out and “nothing indicates a sudden structural collapse”.
