Remakes, sequels and new titles mark the most anticipated releases in the horror genre in 2024. And, with a high variety of names already confirmed, movie theaters should have a good program of scary and brutal films throughout the year.
A CNN prepared a list of the most anticipated horror films of 2024 for those who want to stay tuned and plan a calendar for when the titles they want to see will premiere.

“Night Dive” – now in theaters
From the same producers of “Five Nights at Freddy’s – The Endless Nightmare (2023)”, “nós (2019)”, and “Corra! (2017)”, “Mergulho Noturno” is now in cinemas.
In the plot, Ray (Wyatt Russell) is a character who played professional baseball, but a degenerative disease forced his retirement. Having moved to a new house with his wife and children, he still has hopes of returning to the sport.
The beautiful swimming pool in the new property is one of the reasons he believes this, as he intends to use it in his physiotherapy sessions. What he and his family would never imagine was that the residence's leisure space actually hides a dark past that will plunge them into absolute terror.

“The Evil That Habits Us” – February 1st
Argentine film, “The Evil That Habits Us” follows two brothers who encounter a man possessed by a demon, about to give birth to the evil he carries, in a remote village. In an attempt to free themselves from the mysterious man who puts them at risk, they end up helping to free the one he imprisons.
The film is scheduled to premiere in Brazilian cinemas on February 1st.

“The Game of Death” – February 22
“The Game of Death” is inspired by the game Blue Whale and tells about a young woman who tries to unravel the mystery behind her sister’s death.
When investigating the internet, she discovers the existence of a cruel challenge called Blue Whale, created to force teenagers to carry out dangerous challenges. What seemed like a terrible suicide turns out to be an even worse network of ideas and violent threats to young people around the world.
The film is scheduled to premiere on February 22nd.

“The Ghosts Have Fun 2” – second half
Sequel to the classic horror film “Ghostly Fun”, from 1988, the new story will also feature Winona Ryder in the same role as Lydia Deetz. Directed by Tim Burton, the story tells about a couple who died and try, at all costs, to haunt the new residents of their old house.
The strong cast also includes Michael Keaton and Jenna Ortega.

A Quiet Place: Day One – June 27
Prequel to “A Quiet Place”, released in 2018, the film is directed by John Krasinski, who also stars in the film alongside his wife, Emily Blunt. Both protagonists of the first film released.
The film follows the arrival of aliens on Earth and the downfall of society as a result of the invasion. The theatrical release date is scheduled for June 27th.

“Saw XI” – September 27
Shortly after the debut of its predecessor, in September 2023, “Saw XI” was confirmed. Jigsaw's new feature film hits theaters on September 27, 2024. No other details about the plot or cast have been revealed so far.

“Sorria 2” – October 18
“Sorria 2” will be directed by Parker Finn, the same director of the first film, and produced by Temple Hill. The film is scheduled to be released on October 18, 2024 in the United States. The starring role has already been announced and will be played by Naomi Scott (“Aladdin”).
There are still no further details about the rest of the production's cast and plot.

“Terrifier 3” – October 25
The “Terrifier” franchise follows the frightening clown Art the Clown, played by David Howard, who commits his brutal and grotesque murders. The new film will continue from the end of its predecessor, “Terrifier 2” and is scheduled to premiere on October 25th.

“Nosferatu” – December
“Nosferatu” is a remake of the 1922 classic of the same name. The new film will star Bill Skarsgård (The Clown It). In the plot, real estate agent Hutter needs to sell a castle whose owner is the eccentric Count Graf Orlock. The count, in fact, is an ancient vampire who spreads terror in the region of Bremen, Germany and is interested in Ellen, Hutter's wife.

“Maxxxine” – No date
The last film in the trilogy that includes the films “X” and “Pearl”, released in 2022, “MaXXXine” will follow the ambitious Maxine (Mia Goth), the only survivor of a terror experienced in rural Texas. She now makes her way in Los Angeles with the plan of becoming a famous actress of the 80s.
In addition to Mia Goth, the film will feature singer Halsey in the cast. There is no release date yet.
