A report prepared by the Brazilian Public Security Forum showed the five Brazilian cities with the highest rate of cell phone theft and robbery, two of which are in the state of Bahia.
The data also shows that the larger the population of a given city, the higher the rate of robberies and thefts of cell phones.
For the measurement, the forum counted the occurrences for every 100 thousand inhabitants.
Check out the ranking below:
- Manaus (AM) – 2,096
- Teresina (PI) – 1,866
- Sao Paulo (SP) – 1,781
- Salvador (BA) – 1,716
- Lauro de Freitas (BA) – 1,665
However, the study also showed that among the 50 cities with the highest rates, 15 are located in the state of São Paulo.
Among the most stolen or robbed brands, Samsung appears, with 37.4%, followed by Apple, with 25%, and Motorola, with 23%.
For the agency that conducted the research, cell phones are becoming a frequent gateway for other types of crimes on the rise, such as fraud and
virtual scams, which may explain the reduction in the number of thefts and robberies on public roads, and, at the same time, the growth in virtual scams .
