Financial Times: Putin proposes a ceasefire in Ukraine in exchange for maintaining the territories of Russia

According to a report by the Financial Times yesterday, Russian President Vladimir Putin proposed to the United States the cessation of hostilities in Ukraine and maintaining the current front line as a basis for the consolidation of the conflict. According to the newspaper report, citing “faces of the day”, Mr Putin made this proposal during a meeting in St. Petersburg in early April with US special envoy Steve Whitkov, as part of his continued talks. If the hostilities stopped and the contact line was frozen, it would mean for Russia that it would abandon the claim of all territories in Donetsk, Lugansk, Hersona and Zaporizia.
